Raks Sharki Health Benefits

Raks Sharki also known as belly dancing is a form of dance which many are quite familiar with. Most dance forms work against rather then with the body's physical inclinations. For example ballet has the potential to deform the skeleton and with Raks Sharki the movements are natural to the female form.

Raks Sharki can be good for:

Loosing weight - Burns up to 300 calories an hour
Toning Muscles - Movements help to increase movement of synovial fluid
Preparing for Childbirth - Women who prefer natural childbirth, this form of dance helps with emphasis on muscle control, so also helps prepare you for post natal exercise which helps encourage abdominal tone.
Aids Digestion - IBS, Constipation

Removing Make-up the Old Fashioned Way!

Believe it or not, using olive oil to remove eye make-up works incredibly well.  You will be amazed.  Not only is it cost effective, it is natural, perfect for all skin types, and always readily available.  Even if you have eye make-up remover at home, please just give it a try.  Here's a little story that might convince you - the skin around your eyes is far to thin to absorb all the creams that we smother all over our eyes.  when applying moisturiser, it shouldnt be applied any closer than the cheek bones, so use olive oil!

The Secrets of Lavender

My favourite essential oil:

Lavender essential oil is good for so many things that affect us every day, I find that this oil is the most handy to have around the house. Lavender oil you can apply directly to the skin, or you could add one or two drops into the cream you use at home or perhaps a carrier oil (almond, olive, grape seed). Lavender oil and tea tree essential oils are the only essential oils that can be used directly, ensure you are aware of any safety issues of an essential oil before using it.

 Lavender can be good for:

Skin: abscesses, acne, allergies, athlete's foot, bruises, all types of burns (sun burns), cold sores, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, inflammations, insect bites, psoriasis, ringworm, scabies, scars, stretch-marks and wounds.

Circulatory and muscular: aches and pains, cellulite, high blood pressure, swelling and pain, helps to relax tight muscles and joint pain.

Respiratory Asthma (use as an inhalation either in the bath or bowl of hot water), bronchitis, coughs, congestion, flu, laryngitis, throat infections, and sinus

Digestion colic, improves digestion, gas, intestines and IBS...

Nervous system balances the emotions, it's calming and relaxing. It can also help with stress, tension and shock.

Rosy Cheeks

I am starting this blog because I have always wanted to share all the holistic ideas I have learnt through out the years, it's time to share them with the world, so you might find these tips helpful. Just so you know I would have tested all these theories before putting them on the blog.

So my first holistic tip is :

Those who are prone to rosy cheeks, hot flushes or possibly going through menopause and heat uo really quickly, try using cabbage leaves, apply them to your face , they will halp take away the redness and reduce the heat really quickly.

Give it a try and let me know.
